The LGMIM is aimed at providing an analytical framework for organisational leadership to reflect on what the organisation does and how it approaches its tasks so as to improve the quality of service delivery and productivity.

Analytical framework

LGMIM is an analytical framework for organisational leadership to reflect on what the organisation does and how it approaches its tasks so as to improve the quality of service delivery and productivity.

Key Performance Areas

LGMIM provides an integrated and holistic view of a organisation’s performance across six key performance areas: Integrated Planning and Implementation, Service delivery, Human Resource Management, Community Engagement, Financial Management and Governance.

Measure, monitor and support

LGMIM is a framework to measure, monitor and support improved management practices in organisations for quality service delivery and increased productivity.

Dedicated Support

LGMIM facilitates well-coordinated, targeted and differentiated support by national and provincial departments. The Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation are dedicated to helping organisations complete their LGMIM assessment, and subsequently developing and implementing associated improvement plans to address issues of concern.

Strong Organisations

LGMIM assists organisations to identify where improvements are needed and guides the development and implementation of an improvement plan to give effect to the improvements.

Continuous Improvement

The overall focus of implementing LGMIM is to encourage a culture of learning and continuous improvement in organisations and not to “police” or embarrass the organisation.
